The Who, What, and Why of the Ranch.

"Cowboys are Genuine Heroes; They Represent Courage, Honor, and Hard Work."

Who We Are

We believe in setting everyone up for success. We can’t force anyone to change but by making the right things easy and the wrong things difficult we can guide them in the right direction. Our team is quick to set boundaries and limits, and to correct negative behaviors in a positive way.

We focus on values, strengths, and relationships. Every person that works or lives at The Ranch House becomes family and they learn that families don’t give up on each other. We work together every day, seven days a week, 365 days a year, through rain, snow, and heat to take care of our horses and each other. Always putting the needs of others before ourselves.

Our horses are the foundation of The Ranch House, they are the tools that get everyone involved in the growth process. We raise horses and have approximately 80 horses on the ranch at all times. These horses are well bred Quarter Horses that are used for rodeo competitions and ranching, with a few that end up on the racetrack. Most importantly, they are used to change people’s lives.

What We Do

Raising and training horses is a lot of work. We start early and end late but we also have fun along the way. Everyone takes part and has their responsibilities for the day-to-day operations of the ranch. We have found that when a young man takes on the responsibility of a horse they become invested in themselves. We also spend time out on the range tending cattle. This is a great opportunity for young men to stretch outside of their comfort zone while spending quiet time reflecting on life and enjoying the outdoor beauty Southern Utah has to offer.

At The Ranch House there is always something to do and learn. Spring foaling is always a favorite. Ranch hands take part in the foaling process making sure that both mother and baby are well cared for. Ranch hands will also find themselves learning the scientific process behind raising foals in our state-of-the-art breeding lab that utilizes ultra sound, microscopes and a decimeter.

Having a working relationship with C&L Cattle and S-V Ranch allows our horses and ranch hands to get the full ranch experience of gathering, branding, and shipping cattle. We also put on events throughout the year including team ropings, clinics, h3 trainings, horse camps, and rodeos. The Ranch House is not always about work, we do find time to have fun. We go kayaking or swimming at Sand Hollow Reservoir, exploring petroglyphs on Kolob Mountain, hiking in Zion National Park, fishing, watching movies or sports events, cookouts up in the mountains, or simply making S’mores around the fire pit.

Teaching vocational and life skills is also a very important part of what we do. For more information about how we provide young men vocational training and work experience customized to their interests, and the job skills we offer, please go to our Job & Life Skills page.

No matter what the experience, whether work or play, the skills and grit each young man learns while at The Ranch House easily transfers into achieving their own dreams and goals in life. What do we do? We impact lives!

Why We Do It

Why do we offer The Ranch House to struggling young men? Because we care! We know that many people have struggles in life, we ourselves have gone through struggles, and we know that there is someone out there that can make a difference in a person’s life. We believe that someone is us. We have a strong belief in God and are very family oriented, which is a principle that puts family at the center and focuses on their values, strengths and relationships.

Every person who works or lives at The Ranch House becomes a part of our family. They learn that families don’t give up on each other. We work together every day to take care of our horses and each other, putting the needs of others before ourselves.

We believe in and enjoy what we do. It’s our way of life. There is nothing more fulfilling than watching someone who has struggled achieve their goals, and find the success they need to become an independent adult.
